A model badge rarely tells the whole story: it can span several engines, transmissions, brake packages, markets and production changes. This section starts with identity, then connects each vehicle to relevant buying, inspection and ownership material.

BMW

Our BMW guides are arranged by chassis family. Current coverage includes the E46 3 Series and the E90/E92 generation, including an E92 M3 service-history checklist. The guides separate identification from diagnosis: first establish the body, build period, engine and relevant equipment, then determine which records or inspection points matter.

Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz section covers the W204 C-Class, W124 and W201 190E. These cars span very different eras, so a single idea of “Mercedes maintenance” is not useful. W204 coverage includes engine and brake-option identification. W124 material puts age, condition and documented work ahead of odometer readings alone.

Audi

The Audi section begins with the B7 and B8 A4 and the first-generation 8N TT. Audi chassis, engine and PR codes can resolve questions that a model name cannot. The identification guide explains where to look and why a code must be checked against the actual car before service or parts research begins.

How to use these guides

Bring the vehicle identification number, registration details, build plate or data sticker, service records and clear photographs together before drawing conclusions. Record codes exactly. Do not “correct” an unclear character from memory. If two sources disagree, mark the point unresolved and ask a workshop, dealer parts department or other qualified source to verify it.

Buyer guides and checklists are preparation tools, not remote inspections. They can help you ask better questions and notice gaps in a seller’s account, but they cannot establish roadworthiness or diagnose a mechanical fault. Brakes, steering, suspension, fuel systems, airbags, high-voltage equipment and work beneath a raised vehicle need particular care and, in many cases, a qualified professional.
